United Kingdom and China reach a no hacking accord

Xi made a speech in such an important place in London history, and talked about so knowledgeably the culture of Britain, said Sherry Madera, minister-counsellor and director for financial and professional services with UK Trade and Investment in China.

Chinese President Xi Jinping headed for a traditional British pub on Thursday, during his state visit, indulging in a beer and a portion of traditional fish and chips with Prime Minister David Cameron.

It's a marked change in tone from Cameron's trip to China in December 2013, when the Global Times said Britain was an old country, "easily replaceable in China's European foreign policy".

'China attaches great importance to the protection of human rights.

Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan were then greeted by Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, at an event at Lancaster House celebrating the partnership of the two nations in which companies in the creative industries announced new collaborations in film, TV and entertainment.

His spokeswoman says there was a clear commitment by both sides "not to conduct or support the cyber-enabled theft of intellectual property, trade secrets or confidential business information".

Jinping arrived Tuesday in London for his four-day visit in the United Kingdom and was immediately greeted by the royal family.

"Today as the Chinese people are advancing the rule of law in an all-round way, they draw inspiration not only from China's own legal tradition, but also the best practices of other countries", Xi said.

Cameron plans to meet Xi later Wednesday and dine with him Thursday at Chequers, the prime minister's country residence.

The Chinese president's visit has drawn protests in the streets and criticism in Parliament.

On the final day of Mr Xi's state visit, he and Mr Cameron will attend lunch at Manchester Town Hall alongside business, civic and community representatives.

Despite the public display of goodwill, a few British commentators have suggested Charles was deliberately skipping a state banquet at Buckingham Palace in Xi's honour. The two firms also agreed to develop two further nuclear power stations in southeast England - one of which would be Chinese-designed and majority Chinese-owned.

Other deals included a $10 billion liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply deal between BP and China's Huadian power producer, a 2.6 billion pound deal with Carnival Corp to make new cruise ships, and a 1.4 billion pound deal between Rolls-Royce and HNA Group. Britain's government is also offering a guarantee.
