Pfizer wants to hire Enfatico ?

August 7, 2008

About 6 weeks ago, Pfizer launched an RFI that Adweek noted might mean that they want to consolidate all their advertising (a massive $2.6 billion to $2.7 billion per year).

That was 6 weeks ago. Evidently the information we got (highly speculative) appears that it’s slightly more than just under one holding company. They want a Dell / Enfatico model…. and to make matters more interesting WPP might be involved with this , pointing to the success of the Enfatico project so far.

“Somehow we could find a way to squeeze another logo onto this page. ”
Is written on Enfatico’s client page.

It should be noted that Enfatico was formed with Dell as its first client. The agency had always planned to take on additional clients with Dell’s encouragement. Thanks for the interest, Matt. Stop by for a visit once we’re in 11 Mad.

Then even more interesting, WPP Group’s Wunderman already is on the roster and does a large part of the work for Pfizer, and the RFI was designed to make it difficult for others to reply to.. literally it appears to be custom built for WPP.

Responses to Pfizer’s requests for information were due back to Pfizer two weeks ago. The RFI for non-roster agencies was more probative than the one for roster agencies already familiar to the client.

So to slim it down, WPP points to their ‘success’ with Enfatico and Pfizer then gives them the easy RFI designed for WPP.

Smells bad overall. Enfatico might get another logo…

first question would be to define the “success” of enfatico, right?

second question might be, seeing as how it’s taking a while for WPP to get enfatico up to speed, is WPP really the best holding company to awarded this pharma behemoth?

surely there are others qualified and waiting in the wings? Saatchi or McCann might get it together as easily as WPP got enfatico together, actually easier as they have more to lose and prove…
